About Indi-Safe: Our Factory
Indi-Safe has manufactured protective clothing in Johannesburg since 1984. The business operates from its factory at 7 Simmonds Street, Selby, and produces more than 20,000 garments per month.
What we make
The Indi-Safe brand manufactures several lines, namely AluTech, WoolTech and Indi-Safe Workwear. AluTech and WoolTech are specialized protective garment ranges for foundry, smelter, furnace and hot work. AluTech is aluminized clothing tested to ISO 11612. WoolTech is built on flame-retardant wool tested to ISO 6940, with ChromeTech chrome leather garments alongside it. The Indi-Safe Workwear range covers safety hi-vis, FR, waterproof and winter workwear. We also modify garments to customer requirements and take on custom development and CMT production.
The factory
Fabric is cut on automated cutting equipment. Sewing runs across more than 150 machine operators. Heat protective garments are sewn with Kevlar thread and reinforced at stress points. Sample runs and bulk orders are cut from the same patterns and checked against the same standard.
Quality
A quality report is issued with every order. Where a tender or site standard calls for specific testing, we can assist with testing and certification requirements for the garments we supply.
Ordering
We supply bulk orders and smaller runs. Sizing can be adjusted to your workforce, and custom lengths are available on garments such as the AluTech coat and apron.
We supply foundries and smelters, mines, steel and engineering works, construction and utility contractors, and companies standardizing workwear across their teams, in South Africa and internationally.
