Indi-Safe has manufactured aluminized protective clothing at our Johannesburg factory since 1984, supplying foundries, smelters, steel mills, glass plants and platinum and ferrochrome operations across South Africa. The AluTech range covers the body head to toe: coat, jacket, trouser, bib and brace, furnace apron, double palm glove, hood and visor, and hood shield.
Every AluTech garment is built on an aluminized para-aramid outer layer. The mirrored aluminized surface reflects radiant heat away from the wearer before it soaks into the garment, and the para-aramid substrate resists flame and molten splash without melting or dripping. An optional flame-retardant cotton D59 thermal liner adds insulation for work close to furnaces, ladles and casting lines. Seams are sewn with Kevlar thread and closures are heat-resistant hook and loop, so the garment holds together at exactly the points where cheaper heat wear fails first.
The range is tested to ISO 11612:2015 and rated A1 B1 C1 D3 E3 F1. For buyers, the two codes that matter most are D3 and E3: the highest ratings for molten aluminium splash and molten iron splash. A, B, C and F cover limited flame spread, convective heat, radiant heat and contact heat.
Aluminized garments should not be laundered like standard workwear. Wipe the outer surface clean, inspect the aluminized coating regularly, and withdraw a garment once the reflective layer is cracked or worn through, because the reflectivity is the protection.
